Possibly you've been to Nokia Maps and seen the following claim:
"Free navigation forever on Nokia smartphones"
Great I have a Nokia smartphone, the E71x. Unfortunately my phone is not on the list of available devices, and I cannot install Ovi Maps from their site. This is the bottom line:
The Nokia E71x is ATT branded and will not let you install Ovi Maps.
That should be the end of the story but I will persist a little bit. First if you have googled around it appears there used to be a hack for installing ovi maps 3.0. At this site Nokia E71x now works with Ovi Maps 3.0 beta! there are instructions in the comments for installing Ovi Maps 3.0. Install Ovi Maps 2.0 then d/load the Nokia Maps Updater and update your maps, which will lead to Ovi Maps 3.0 being installed. Notice that I have not provided links for any of these d/loads? Thats because their harder to find and not officially supported. I found Ovi Maps 2.0 and installed that, works fine, the Zoom In/ Zoom Out buttons are misplaced and the GPS doesn't work.
The Nokia Maps Updater is gone, I have found an old version but it wouldn't work. It has been replaced by the Ovi Suite, which is awesome it allows maps to be d/loaded to your phone, but it does not update the maps to 3.0. Nokia expects you to just d/load the Nokia Maps program and install it to update to the newest version, which is great, except the e71x does not let you install Ovi Maps 3.0.
Here are some more instructions, for maps on the e71x. This site claims that the Ovi suite should work to install the maps, but I wonder if the author wasn't installing 3.0 and not 3.03.
Either way, I found an older version of 3.0 online at Ovi Maps forum has links to the older 3.0 which seems to work.
